Spain 0-20 South Africa

With more than 2,000 fans in the stands at La Cartuja, the Springbok Women delivered a deserved performance to win a thrilling contest 20-0. After a scoreless but highly competitive and entertaining first quarter, South Africa finally broke the stalemate as Catha Jacobs powered over the line after a successful handful of phases. Jakkie Cillers added the extras. Babalwa Latsha was forced to come off early with an ankle injury, but it didn't deter the Springbok Women from keeping their momentum going as they extended their lead until the break.

Although Spain came very close to levelling the score as Claudia Peña broke the line - the centre was caught just a few metres from the line, the visitors claimed three more points from Jakkie Cilliers' boot. Las Leonas woes didn't stop there as Claudia Peña picked up an injury and was replaced just before the break. Following the break, South Africa looked more focused on asserting complete control, with their scrum consistently putting Spain under pressure.

After a series of phases, Aseza Hele powered over near the try line and grounded the ball to extend the Springbok Women's lead to 15–0. Spain pushed hard for a comeback and occasionally found openings in the South African defensive line, but failed to turn those opportunities into points. Unfortunately for the Las Leonas supporters, the Springbok Women needed little invitation to strike again. In the 67th minute, Cilliers finished off a superb team move to extend South Africa's lead, and although the full-back missed the conversion, the Springbok Women were firmly in control and were heading towards their second win of the 2026 WXV Global Series.

Las Leonas did everything they could to reward their supporters with a consolation try, but South Africa's ironclad defence held firm to secure a 20-0 victory. As the Springbok Women celebrated their win, they had another reason to smile, as lock Vainah Ubisi was named today's Player of the Match after an intense display of power and finesse, adding more threat to the South African set-piece.
